POTABLE WATER TREATMENT PLANT REPAIR
Problem
Various problems can affect clean water processing plants ,
Leakage of water from reservoirs through porous concrete , ingress of water into reservoirs ,failure of water retaining waterproofing envelope , leakage of potable water feeder concrete tunnels , soft water eroding the concretes surface
Solution
RESERVOIRS LEAKAGE AND SURFACE DAMAGE BY EROSION AND DISSOLVING
After the removal of unsound concrete and exposure of reinforcement as necessary the following is recommended .
Seal all cracks with a moisture tolerant polyurethane structural resin Contite PUE 300/301 .
Reinforcement protect with Congard ST
Reprofile by spray or hand applied Conpatch 600HS high strength, high build >70N/mm2 polymer modified repair mortar containing a migrating corrosion inhibitor
All leaking joints seal first with Contite G600 oakhum technique then repair with a hypalon strip Conflex Band 200mm wide 2 mm thickness
All areas spray on Conpatch NCI migrating corrosion inhibitor
Top coat with Contite CFM highly flexible waterproof membrane and crystalline permanent waterproofing which is crack bridging and sealing at 2mm thickness
LEAKING CONCRETE WATER TUNNELS
Remove deleterious materials and clean surface
Damaged areas cut back as required to sound concrete and reinforcement as necessary .
Coat Rebar with Congard ST
Reprofile with Conpatch 600HS high strength >70N/MM2 and high build polymer modified repair mortar containing a corrosion inhibitor
All leaking joints rout out and seal with Contite ACCI dry pack and seal with Conflex band Hypalon strip 200 mm wide 2 mm thick fixed with epoxy
To prevent future water loss or ingress recoat all the surface with Contite CFM a flexible polymer waterproofing system incorporating permanent crystalline waterproofing crack bridging and sealing at 2 mm thickness
